10 Ways to Decorate Evergreen Wreaths: Decoration Ideas for the Holidays
79One of the most popular Christmas decorations is the evergreen wreath. Although there are lots of tutorials out there for many different types of wreaths (fabric, wire, etc.), the evergreen wreath is still one of my personal favorites. You can purchase one that is already put together or you can make your own from lose boughs before you decorate it. For both options, you can choose to use or make either a real or artificial wreath. Whichever method and materials you choose, there are numerous possibilities for decoration. Here are a few of my favorites. Happy holiday decorating!
Make your own evergreen wreath!
- Christmas Wreath - How to Make an Evergreen Wreath
Step by step, illustrated guide on how to make an evergreen Christmas wreath. Includes a brief history of wreaths and their uses in the past. Make an aromatic Christmas wreath to welcome guests to your home this holiday season.
Stacked Evergreen Wreaths
This idea is so simple and so elegant. You simply link three smaller wreaths together with wire. The author chose to add a large bow and a handful of pine cones, but you can use different embellishments if you like. You can also choose to stack two medium sized wreaths instead.
Evergreen Wreath with Cranberries
What better way to incorporate the classic Christmas element of cranberries into your holiday decorating scheme than to put some on your wreath? You can pair cranberries with other decorative elements, such as bows, ribbons, and pine cones, or you can simply wrap a wreath with a strand of cranberries.
Evergreen Wreath with Flowers
I love the contrast of pairing an evergreen wreath, which is normally associated with winter, with brightly colored flowers. This tutorial walks you through the entire process of creating your own wreath if you'd like to do that. The author suggestions that in addition to using this as a door or wall hanging, you could also turn it into a centerpiece, which is an excellent alternative for just about any homemade evergreen wreath.
Gift Tag Wreath
This is such a creative idea. You can use pre-made or homemade gift tags for your Christmas greetings. Have fun using different markers, colored pencils, etc. to write your greetings. The author used Christmas print fabric ribbons to attach the greetings in the pictured wreath. Just about any type of fabric or gift wrap ribbon will work for your wreath, as long as it can fit through the gift tag hole. The author also wove extra ribbons, berry bunches, and evergreen sprigs into the wreath. You can use similar embellishments or add some of your own choosing.
Evergreen Wreath with Fake Snow and Silver Balls
This simple homemade wreath just has a grouping of silver balls in two different sizes attached to the bottom. Other classic colors, such as gold or red, would work well for the balls, too. The easiest way to attach Christmas balls to a wreath is with wire, which can normally be found in the floral section of craft stores. To get your fake snow, check out this recipe from the same blog.
Evergreen Wreath with Cranberries and a Large Bow
Again, cranberries are such a classic addition to any Thanksgiving or Christmas celebration. Here's another great idea for including some of them on a wreath. I love how they look paired with the bow, although they are beautiful on their own, too. The pictured wreath has tiny pine cones, too, which is a beautiful touch.
Seashore Evergreen Wreath
Who would have thought that you could use a seashore theme for an evergreen wreath? The little starfish are really cute. What I love about these theme is that you can customize it for your own region of the country. For example, think about how you could represent the city or the mountains in your own wreath. Your embellishments will have to fit on the wreath, but there really are no other limitations.
Feather and Berry Wreath
Feathers add a unique touch to a wreath. I love how something unique (feathers) is paired with something classic (berries) here. If you are unable to find or don't want to use real feathers, you can purchase fake feathers at many craft stores.
Rustic Wreath
Decorate your evergreen wreath in a rustic style with basic metal shapes and primitive patterned ribbons, such as gingham. Keep other details simple and in a similar style. The berry details on the pictured wreath are sparse and subtle.
Wreath with Colored Balls
If you enjoy decorating your tree with colored balls or using colored balls for other Christmas decor in your house (i.e. on a table in a silver bowl), consider coordinating your wreath with similarly colored balls. Use balls in several different shapes to create a more varied look for your wreath. Have fun experimenting with the color combination, too.

Cool pictures of different wreaths. Here in Minnesota we can just let nature add snow to the silver wreath (we've gotten some already!) lol. Guess I better stop being lazy and put up something - now to choose, one of these festive arrangements! Voted up.

Lovely, lovely wreaths. This should be a neat resource for some time to come. My favorite is the snow on silver, but there's not one that I don't like.
