St. Patrick's Day Greeting Cards: Lots of Free Printables

By randomcreative

While St. Patrick's Day does not necessitate gift giving, it can still be festive to mark the occasion with a greeting card. Whether you are helping your kids create cards to give to their classmates or you are creating cards for your family, friends, and/or co-workers, there are lots of great ideas out there. With numerous free printables and easy ideas, there is something for everyone. Happy creating!

Printable Irish Toasts

Keep your cards traditional with these four printable Irish toasts. Print and mount any way you like right onto smaller cards. The artist chose to paste some of hers right onto card stock and to cut photo corners for others. Additionally, you can paste one message on the front and another inside or just put to a single one on the front. If you like this idea and are looking to do more with it, search for other Irish toasts and create your own printables.

Easy Shamrock Cards

Who knew that you could make shamrocks using hearts or thumbprints? Whether you use a heart punch or you draw your own hearts, this concept is so easy. You can use just about any kind of material (paper, fabric, etc.). This post details how to stamp three different kinds of shamrock cards. You can keep it simple and make cards like these with single shamrock designs or you can add these designs to more detailed cards.

St. Patrick's Day Cards for Kids

Help your kids design simple St. Patrick's Day cards with Kraft paper and envelopes, ribbon, and an oxalis plant. The author suggests checking grocery stores for these plants around St. Patrick's Day. Make sure that you allow time for pressing the flowers as the tutorial suggests so that they will lay flat on the cards. This is a great project to do at home or in a classroom.

Printable St. Patrick's Day Card: You Are 2 Lucky

The artist who designed this card has a friend who gives each of the artist's children a card with a $2 bill in it for St. Patrick's Day. She is passing on this tradition to others with a free printable. If you'd like to use $2, see if your bank will give them on request. If not, $1 bills will work just fine, too. In addition to the printable, the artist includes a link with directions for folding dollar bills into shamrocks.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Card

Gloria designed this simple tri-fold card for her dad who wanted to send St. Patrick's Day cards to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren last year. The tri-fold design adds some interesting dimension to the card while still leaving lots of space to write a note (which if you're like me, you will use in its entirety). She used a specific Cricut cartridge and set of stamps, but this design is easy to replicate with any number of materials.

Lucky Day Card

This is another Cricut tutorial that you can take inspiration from and assemble any way that you like. I love the sequin detail on the hat and the green dotted boarder and shamrocks. Pairing patterned scrapbook papers or other materials with plain papers will create an interesting contrast for any greeting card.

My Super Simple Shamrock Trick

I am definitely using this trick from Kelly to create my own shamrocks! Not only does she use the heart punch idea to make the shamrock leaves, but she folds each one and glues half of it down to give the shamrock more dimension. This is such a simple and effective technique. For those of who enjoy sewing with paper, consider sewing the leaves down instead of gluing them. The colors that she's paired for this card are beautiful.

Pinch-Proof Card

Are you and your friends and/or family members tired of the St. Patrick's Day tradition of having people pinch those who are not wearing green? Create some of these personalized pinch-proof cards for yourself and anyone you know who might need one these year. The artist displayed hers on the dog in this post. Hopefully pets don't have to worry about this kind of thing, but I suppose that you never know.

Homemade St. Patrick's Day Card: Watercolor Shamrocks

For those of you who would rather be painting than cutting and pasting paper, grab your pencils, watercolors, and paint markers and give this a try. Kathy gives step by step instructions for drawing and painting the shamrocks. Keep it simple with a green background as is pictured here or use this painting technique for numerous other card designs.

St. Patrick's Day Lucky Penny Template

Instead of using the lucky $2 bill idea as mentioned in a couple of other project ideas, switch it up and give a lucky penny card. Just print and attach your pennies. The artists suggests asking banks for new pennies or shining old pennies. While even kids will most likely not be wowed at the monetary value of a shiny penny, the gesture is still meaningful.

These are all very cute. I like St. Patrick's Day. Not sure why. Maybe it's simply because green is one of my favorite colors.

Thanks Om! I love green, too. By the time it's St. Patrick's Day, most of us are really starved for some bright greens.
