Daily, Weekly, and 30 Day Photography Challenges
As both blogs and digital photography become more popular, so do online photography challenges. For anyone who enjoys photography, sharing work online, and taking on new challenges, photography challenges may be a fun experience. There are numerous challenges out there, many of which fall into three categories: daily, weekly, and 30 day or month challenges. I have included some general information about challenges before I get into the list of some of the best challenges out there. I divided them by type of challenge and then within the daily challenges, by the day of the week.
Please note: I personally verified all of the challenges during June 2012. Blogs and challenge details are subject to change at any time without notice.

Why participate in a photography challenge?
- Stretch your skills. That may seem obvious, but a good photography challenge will present a real challenge that may push you out of your comfort zone.
- Experiment with new subjects and techniques. It can be easy to use what you already know and do well. Many challenges will get you to consider new subjects and to try new techniques.
- Get feedback on your work. For any good challenge, the host and most of the participants will check out the other entries and leave comments. Challenges can be a great way to get a new audience for your photography.
- Build your photo database. Whether you're interesting in building your personal photo collection for writing articles, blog posts, etc. or are simply trying to capture more moments of your every day life, photo challenges can be a huge asset.
- Network with other photographers. Many people who participate in challenges have active blogs and/or a strong web presence elsewhere online. Participating yourself can be a good method for meeting some of these people.
- Have fun. The best photo challenges are a lot of fun. You'll enjoy getting out and looking for new inspiration that fits specific themes.

Photography Challenge Etiquette Tips
- Follow the directions for the challenge. Different challenges have different rules. Pay attention to what the particular host wants.
- Leave a comment for the host. Hosting a good challenge is a lot of work. If you enjoy participating regularly, take the time to leave your host some feedback and thank them for hosting.
- Visit and comment on other challenge entries. One of the best ways to get comments and to keep a good challenge going is to take the time to visit other entries. Make sure to leave a few comments, too.

Cool! I love photography, but had never heard of photo challenges. Thank you for all the information! Voted up, useful, and interesting.
This sounds like a lot of fun. I am definitely an amateur photographer with a lot to learn. I just really enjoy snapping shots. I like the array of challenges you listed.
Brilliant hub random! This is very clever, well presented and so nice to read. I just received a new camera as a gift and I feel so inspired! Love it. -K
Great blog, thanks for the info. Photo challenges sound like so much fun, can't wait to jump right in. Love photography and sounds like a fun way to find others to love it as much.
Dang, Rose you gave me a great idea! I might have to start a blog - I just got a new camera (to improve the quality of my photos and working elsewhere online) and do these exercises. Bookmarked and shared!
I love to snap photos and would like to learn more about photography. I've thought about taking a class. Maybe I'll check out some of these challenges.
I have never heard of photo challanges and can't wait to check these out!
Many thanks and voted up
I didn't know about this either. I'll check it out when I get a minute. Since becoming a hubber I've really started to learn more about photography. Thanks for sharing this! Kelley
Thank you so much for posting this! Concise, enjoyable to read, and inspiring! Cannot wait to get started...
Rose, this is really interesting! I can't believe I have never heard of these photo challenges. I love taking pictures and some of these sounds like so much fun. Thank you for sharing all of these wonderful links!
Wow! I had no idea there were this many different photo challenges to choose from. Thank you for putting together this great list. I will definitely participate in some of these.
What an awesome hub! I only wish I had the time to try all of these photo challenges. This ties into one of my latest hubs on ways to find paid work as a digital photographer, so I created a backlink to it.
Wow, I didn't know there that many! I have seen Wordless Wednesday on the blogs I frequent. I participated in the 365project.org, although when I looked it up to remember the name, it looks like there are several others with similar names. They host the photos there, not on your blog, and they have a nice layout for the photos. You don't have to do it every day, and you can go past a year without any problems.
Thank you for this brilliant information!
Wow, so many links here! I love it! I haven't done a photography challenge in years. This reminds me of how much fun it was. Bookmarking this hub, will have to try one of these very soon! Great job! Voted up and more! :)
I wish I was better at photography. I need to get a new camera and really take the time to learn what I am doing. Entering some sort of contest may be just the right push to do it. Thanks for this very informative hub Rose!
I love taking pictures! I'm still very much the amateur but I do enjoy it! I started a challenge back in May but had to stop because we disconnected our internet...I plan to start again soon...great information!!
I've done a few photo challenges online and via Instagram its always lots of fun. Great hub

You have so many awesome hubs. Full of great information! who knew there were so many photo contests! Photography is something I really need to work on. I think I need to start with a good camera, maybe take a class. I just don't have great pics (except maybe in my guac and pico de gallo hub!). Anyway, you are inspiring. You're so good at so many things. I really like that picture of the stairs! Awesome. The cat is cool, too. Great job. Many votes!
